Famous For
Kanyakumari is the point where peninsular India runs out — the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea converging on one small temple town. A ferry crosses to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, where Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892, beside the 41-metre Thiruvalluvar Statue rising from the waves. The drive down from Trivandrum is half the experience: windmill farms, the wooden Padmanabhapuram Palace, and the towering Suchindram temple all line the 90-km route, which is why most visitors do Kanyakumari by cab rather than train.

Green months = ideal weather. Grey months = monsoon/off-season (can be beautiful but expect rain).
The nearest airport is Trivandrum (TRV), 90 km away — about 2.5 to 3 hours by cab via Nagercoil. Kanyakumari has its own railway station too, but the cab route lets you cover Suchindram and Padmanabhapuram Palace on the way.
Both happen over the sea, which is rare anywhere in India. On full-moon evenings (especially Chitra Purnima in April–May) you can watch the sun set and the moon rise simultaneously. Sunset suits day-trippers; sunrise needs an overnight stay.
Yes — they are 90 km apart. The classic plan is 2 nights in Kovalam with a full-day Kanyakumari trip: Vivekananda Rock in the morning, Suchindram after lunch, sunset at the point, back by 9 pm.
On weekends and holidays it can stretch past an hour by mid-morning. Go at the 8 am opening — we time the cab so you are in the first batch, and the jetty is a five-minute walk from most hotels.
Fixed prices, verified drivers, zero hidden charges.
